Seed germination instructions

1. Put the zip bag at room temperature for three months. There is no need for sunlight.

2. Check every week (or two weeks) to make sure that the medium is not dry. If the medium turns white, it indicates it’s dry, and you may add one or two tablespoons of water and shake the bag—avoid too much water, just enough to make the medium damp.

3. Three months later, put the bag into the refrigerator (not the freezer) till the beginning of June.

4. In the beginning of June, take the bag out. By that time, the seeds should have roots. You can plant them in a pot and grow them outside (partial sun). If the plants look nice and healthy, you may plant them into the garden in early fall. If the seedlings are too weak, you can just bury the pot in the garden over the winter. Take it out in June, grow it over the summer, and plant it in the following fall.

Not every seed germinates in the first year. After refrigerating for three months, if you find there are seeds that do not grow (no roots), they may still be viable. In June you can plant them in a pot and bury the pot and let it stay underground over the summer and through the winter. In the following June, take the pot out in June and hopefully there will be roots growing, and then you can grow it over the summer in the pot and plant it into the garden in fall.

The basic cycle for germinating is warm+cold+germinate. If it doesn’t germinate in the first cycle, just repeat it. Either in the garden or use a zip bag in room temperature for three months and another 3-4 months in the refrigerator.

Thank you.
